ZergNet - a miscellany of geek news and gossip, conversation-starters, and generally just a roulette table of useless pop culture bits worthy of Cliff Clavin.
IGN.com - I like these guys for their timely and thorough console game reviews and for their in-depth articles regarding current affairs in the gaming world. Scoring systems are nothing if not subjective, but IGN's system is highly flexible and their video segments are solid.
Roger Ebert's tribute site - this has since reverted back to a standard film-review site, now a hub of numerous professional critics (and Mr. Ebert's friends) doing what they do very well since Roger - who did it better than anyone - no longer can. I like the comprehensive search function, which makes research and reference-checking a snap.
Television Tropes and Idioms - This one you have to see to believe, and once its function becomes clear you're likely to spend quite a bit of time on it. It is a compendium of tools, devices, types, archetypes, stereotypes, and cliches found (ostensibly) in writing by way of TV and films. It's loaded with good ideas masquerading as trivia and has a surprisingly academic approach to its material.
Think Geek - for those of us who live in T-shirts year-round (regardless of temp) and just HAVE to impose our views on others in minimally pretentious ways.
Edleez Tobacco - tools of the trade.
